During these cold winter days you would probably want to do what the bears do, just curl up and hibernate. Rarely though is there an occasion that would have you put layers on and brave the weather.
But just looking at the Malaysia Winter Market poster, the possibility of warmth could not possibly keep you indoors. At least we had to try to lure you out because we could not think of a better time than now to offer you the warmth of Malaysian food.
The Malaysian Winter Market was held last weekend on the 22nd of January to the joy of both the organizer, Malaysia Kitchen, and the Saturday shoppers as we found ourselves in the midst of a bundled-up crowd perusing the market for steaming hot food. The sight of local Londoners, foreigners and Malaysians as well, was a joy to behold. Together we enjoyed the food from a dozen of our Malaysian restaurants operating in London.
Among them were Bonda Café, Tok Din, Rasa Sayang, Bintang, Satay House, Awana, Delima, Puji-Puji, Melati, Bunga Raya and Jom Makan. Each restaurant had their own attraction to draw in customers including the Nasi Beriani, Roti Canai, Curry Puff, Mee Goreng, Mee Kari and many more. But the star of the show had to be the Satay! The savory skewered Satay was a massive hit. People were waiting in a long line for the grilled chunks of marinated meat on a stick. Watching their happy faces and approving nods after taking a bite meant a lot to us. Another popular sight was the Teh Tarik Man from Bonda Café putting on a bit of a show as he enthralled the crowd with a “tea pulling” demonstration.
We hope that we managed to show that Malaysian cuisine exudes comfort like the comfort of cuddling up in front of the fire place. Now that you have had a taste there is no need to wait for the next round of setting up stalls for you can make your way for some cozy in-house dining at any one of those Malaysian restaurants and more. Check out Malaysia Kitchen to locate Malaysian restaurants near you.
This January jaunt for Malaysia Kitchen was meant as a pick-me-up during the winter lull and we thank you for your continuous . We mean to bring you more of our tropical paradise to the streets of the world so we hope to see you again.
